RE:garding Next (2007-2008)

“RE:garding Next'' ( 2007-08) was a ‘collaborative culture project’ exploring utopian desire as a platform for radically imagining collective ‘nexts’. A host of collaborators, student participants and communities were involved through exhibitions, classes, workshops and performances in the U.S. and in Europe.  The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem, NC was the producing institution hosting the multilayered project with an evolving exhibition in the Balcony Gallery from January - April, followed by a large-scale multimedia performance in the McChesney Scott Dunn Auditorium there.  Book, Klement and Carrasco performed a concert version at Roulette in New York City, and then Book and Klement created a duo version continuing the utopia work at a granular scale in Pittsburgh at SPACE Gallery and in 2008 at Amman Studios in Vienna, Austria.  Also, in 2008, further iterations occurred through residency with Transart Institute that included a workshop and performance, and an exhibition in Linz, Austria.
