Exhibition and Performance from Greece Residency (2025)
The exhibition Bodies Go Everywhere — an Open Book Project and the performance Unreading for Ancient Future Bodies emerged from a 3-week artist residency during which Lynn Book was invited to conduct at nekubi, a contemporary art and culture space in Kavala, Greece, following a 3 week residency in Crete at Ano Asites.
Bodies Go Everywhere — an Open Book Project (2025)
For the exhibition, Book designed 24 large format ‘pages’ from this evolving corpus as creative research for a forthcoming book project, “Bodies Go Everywhere — A Wayward Survival Guide”. These ‘pages’ were devised to be viewer-interactive — each could be picked up, moved around the space to share with others or read in a different light while sipping a coffee. The hands-on approach also allowed individuals to create new sequences and relationships between the ‘pages’ on the exhibition shelves. In this way, it reflected the guiding concepts of the larger work of “Unreading…”, that knowledge-making is performative and that lifetimes of knowledge that came before are crucial to contemporary creative awareness and action.
Unreading for Ancient Future Bodies (2025)
For this concert performance for nekubi, in conjunction with the exhibition, Book invited cellist Vaso Zissou to improvise a live sound score to a projected video from the ”Unreading for Future Bodies” corpus.
