Living Room Labs - learning on the loose
A 'mix and match set' of duo classes that fit together into a six session series or designed to be taken in pairs. The intimate space of a living room provides a low stress, comfortable environment in which to explore the way your body and mind wake up after a work day.  Warm up to some new approaches for your voice through breath, writing and extended explorations and have a cup of tea too!

set 1: breathing voice focuses on the greatest renewable resource we have - the breath.  through exercises that release and strengthen we clear a path for deeper, more complete breathing for any kind of voice production or simply to become more sensitive to the breath of life itself... Thursdays, Oct. 7, 14, 7-8:30 pm

set 2: writing through the voice addresses the relationship of writing and voice.  explore inner voices with words and sounds and the other way around.  cultivate an open exchange between language and the feeling sound of your voiced body... Thursdays, October 21, 28, 7-8:30 pm

set 3: the extended voice is an opportunity for you to really expand not only your vocal range and skills, but the very perception you hold about what the voice is and does.  take risks and have big fun with the artful play of voice out of bounds... Thursdays, November 4, 18, 7-8:30 pm (note that Nov. 11 is skipped)

This series is open to anyone interested in a
full bodied exploration of their creative potential through voice.
The fee for the full series is $185 (early bird) while each 2 part set is $7= 0.
Want to take 2 sets?
We can work with that...

Lynn Book performs extended notes on desire
"a beguiling thrill ride of a concept piece"
(Chicago Tribune Metromix, July 2003)

Book performs hybrid compositions for solo voice, text, objects and electronics that flit and fire through sound, song, rant and poetic rumination on the nature of desire and other motley topics

more about notes on desire:
"[Book] blended stream-of-consciousness word jazz; novel utterances created
by lips, lungs and diaphragm; and snatches of exquisite jazz and operatic
singing into a unique aural confection."--Michael Parrish, Chicago Tribune Metromix
